Chandlery Online / Chartroom-Online.com - problems?

Anyone used or know of this outfit?

Chandlery-Online.com!, Supplying sailors worldwide!

On 8th Aug ordered a pilot book online with 1st class delivery, paid by Paypal which shows as completed and included a message the order was time crucial due to our holiday this week.

Book hasn't arrived, order still shows "processing" and contact phone number went to answerphone thurs/fri. When I look at the site more carefully I see the shipping/returns, privacy and other admin info pages are blank!

It's only £25 so no big deal and I can do a Paypal dispute but wondered if anyone had experienced the same?

I have used them in the distant past.

Just swung the willkdar his way and I see that his ebay shop (which I used) has been out of action for a few months (bar one recent motorhome related purchase, not sale) - the seller is listed as "away". While the telephone numbers are the same, the address appears to be different - I wonder is the gadge moving/on sabbatical/dead?

FWIW - I had no problems with them. However, you do and under the circumstances, I'd be going the PayPal route ASAP. He's not trading.

Thanks for the extra info... didn't know he had the Ebay account as well. Don't like to think badly of folks but with what I've found and the extra you've discovered there seem to be quite a few rather uncertain aspects of the business.

Just been out this morning and daughter says someone's phoned about some book you wanted for your holiday. Sorry pal too late... I'll have the refund!

The replacement came from Sailing Books Ltd. who were helpful on the phone and posted Friday afternoon within a couple of hours of my call to them.... arrived Sat by 11am.

Chartroom Online

Yep - still trading.

The admin office is currently closed for August (used to be the quietest time for us all to go sailing) but the warehouse is still running.

Delivery may be a little slower this month as the surge in orders caught us by surprise, but only by a few days.

We are all back in a week, so normal service should resume.

PS/ Dropped Ebay due to the huge sales fees they started charging.

I'd recommend you make it a priority to address those missing policies as Paypal don't like it if they are missing and can freeze your account till it is fixed.

Of course a good way to build up the trust you have now lost would be to sign up as a trade member and post regularly so the captive audience here all get to know you

Just to say Peter at Chartroom Online sent a couple of polite emails saying sorry for the comms issues, I returned the book and he refunded. So all's well that.....
