there are still some decent people around, i sold my westfield v8 last year the guy that bought it was in scotland north of glasgow somewhere, he saw the pics posted me a cheque, it cleared and i drove it up and met him at gretna, it was just under 10k but the bank still asked where it came from,

Deffo! I think I have posted on here before that there may soon be a gap in the market for an organisation that takes your money, keeps it safe, maybe lends it to safe borrowers and then pays modest interest to those who have lodged the money with them. The current banks seem to be doing this well-established trade less and less!

Well the sale went through absolutely fine on Sunday.
Met the buyer at the yard (having informed the office of the likely transaction)
Checked the boat, checked each other's ID - by driving licence, noted car model & registration, handed over agreed cash which I counted, handed over keys & paperwork , buyer drove off with boat.
Cash paid into bank Mon morning, credited & moved to Building Society MOn evening.

Buyer has nice rib for a good price , I have the dosh (not quite as much as I wanted, but will save on storage & insurance for 6 months) - so all satisfactory.

Thanks to all for advice & opinions.

Yes - new boat already ordered - so quite galad to have made sale & have some of the money banked!

It' s a Ribcraft 5.3, double console 4 x single jockeys, & some bells if not whistles.
got a good winter build price, due for collection in March. Roll on next season!

The other side of this deal is why would the buyer trust you with his money? (to your bank account) - good grief, you might be a criminal!

My workplace lodges tens of thousands of euro/pounds in cash every week - the bank always seems happy enough to get it.

I say again, cash, it's just money - honey
Any chance I could pass on a few Northern Bank 20s in your direction Willk?

No probs dude. I believe the going rate is 10% of face value.

Mind you, the real ones are headed the same direction...
