Carson tubes

Just bought a tubeless Carson. Who made the tubes originally for these?

Morning Tim,

Do you know which model it is? Any pics would be a great help and we should be able to get the info for you.

Colin

Yeah that certainly looks like a Carson 6m and would have likely had welded PU collars fitted which would have been built by Carson in house. Our latest 6m hulls have the collars bolted onto a new vertical flange to raise them out of the water. I have emailed Barry Carson to get more info for you, he is currently out the country but im sure will be along to help in due course to help out.

Hi Colin. That's very helpful, thanks. Now you mention it it does look in the photos like the tube was glued onto the flange (haven't seen the boat in the flesh yet) which means it won't be as simple as simply bolting a new set on! Never mind. I was in touch with Barry a few years ago when he was selling off his moulds - I was interested in the 4m. I assume you bought them in the end?

No the collars are still mechanically fixed to the hull, Carson always mechanically fixed collars for ease of change. They had a flange attached to the collar which would go either side of the hull you have and then boundary bars on both the inside and outside through bolted. Barry may still have some spare collars so will be worth waiting for his response or feel free to email him on barry@probondmarine.co.uk and if he hasn't got any of the old type in stock he will be able to advise.

Yes we have got the 4.2, 5.2, 5.5 & 6m Carson moulds and Barry is almost finished the design work on our new Interceptor class of Carson RIBs which will be 7.5, 8.5 & 9.5m in overall length with semi wave piercing stepped hulls, in addition all the classic Carson features will be incorporated The first order is due for delivery late summer.
