The only campsite I know which is actually on the coast and has its own slipway is Aberfon ( aberafon.co.uk ).

There is also a superb basic site just off the Straits called Is Helen ( http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=13114 )

Its very basic, no showers and just 1 toilet, but its clean, friendly and 10m (across a road) from the water.

Aberafon

You should definitely check out Aberafon, but be warned the entrance is very tight and steep.
Once your down the hill its excellent.

Turn left off the slipway and you've got Trefor Pier and 7 miles further along you come to the Third Best Pub in the World, The Ty Coch.

Abersoch is v pretty, but is Knutsford on sea. Loads a money, but very nice and you're near the islands.

Considered somewhere on the Menai strait. Less pretty villages than Abersoch, but boating excellent.
As my learn'd friend said, can't beat around the menai area, a number of camp sites within a couple of minutes drive from the water.

Thanks for the replies chaps - Aberafon looks good.

When you say tight..... I'm assuming guessing large campers should fit down?

DHD - was this the site you were referring to? http://www.campingintheforest.co.uk/...elert-campsite

Twin axle

You can get a twin axle caravan down there but, very carefully.

It would be best to stop in the lay-by right next to the entrance and walk down to make sure no one's coming the other way.

You should be fine this time of year as It'll be quiet.
