Camera mounting

Not the thread some of you are expecting from me

Rest assured the wait will be over by Sunday

As many of you know one of the big things about Into the Red is that she has no a frame. Seeing all you guys with aframe mounted camera holders has got us wonering: how to do it without an a frame?

Gotchidad got one of these for his birthday last year: DSC-TX5, so we're all sorted on the camera front, just need a mounting. The Go Pro (

) which you all seem to have has it's own mounting doesn't it, so we need something that just screws into the tripod mount of the camera and that can clip to some stainless somewhere. Photos of the boat here, and as you can see there is plenty of stainless on the console or even the ski pole to attach to.

I've seen this video done by Tony, maybe he might have a link to a mounting solution? Thanks in advance, Oliver.

It mounts on the tubing around the screen and carries a waterproof video camera!

Brilliant device.

I think I got it through Amazon.

Have been using the manfrotto clamp for a couple years now, very good stays where you want it. Just wash down in fresh water every time.

if you cant find one that works here.... Ram Mount Ive used them on Boats, Cars and Bikes, never let me down.

are these all adjustable to work clamped to a vertical or horizontal tube ie side of console or top of a pod seat?

the Ram mounts are a ball on either end so massive range of movement

The manfrotto super clamp will secure to round tube, square tube or flat bar/surface at whatever angle the item is at. It can be tightened up so much that you have to be careful not to crush light weight tubes!

For more flexibility, you can get a ball mount for it and then have whatever you want.

I have also attached a normal tripod head to the clamp, which gives complete control over any of the 3 axis.

I used the race suction mount on top of my samson post, for this angle.I have also used it for mounting the camera all over the boat. I have mounted camera's on tripod mounts but found EVERYtime the thread rips out the camera..You could mount the GOpro on a helmet?

Well I do hope they are as good as your advert!! I have just order the clamp and the camers thingy.

Compared with the Twatsoo, the Merc uses 60% of the fuel, when running around/cruising at 28ish kts, weighs about the same, a bit quieter (not much), acceleration/response is roughly the same and top end is down by 1kt, although I haven't finished experimenting with props yet.

Early days, but so far, a lot better all round than I expected - think I'll keep it.

Another enlightened 4-stroke owner, good to have you join the realms. Gotchi will see the error of his ways one day (and might even overcome his preconceptions with a little more medication - I'm sure the fumes of unburnt hydrocarbons will soften him with time)
