You know we did actually have a four stroke Suzuki before the Etec. Hence why I can say with confidence that on a Zodiac Pro, 2/ is better. Waaay too bum heavy

Was it a 1st generation DF60/70? Those old girls are well lardy.
The newer DF60 is a lot lighter, being based on the DF50. The 2nd generation DF70 is also lighter than the original, but still too heavy for the SR4.7

First gen DF50 Actually though, the etec is around the same weight. Even if you get the greater power, it would hardly make a difference with the same weight. That boat was build for a shortsharft 2/. Converting it to take a long shaft 4/ just hasnt worked!

Yes, the original Pro was designed for a shortshaft engine. I think it was around 2002 they converted it to take a long shaft (the entire model line that is), obviously to compensate for the extra weight and resultant higher water line from the new fourstrokes.

And if you mean the typo then sorry! I just edited it. My fingers are still freezing, been on the fells all day

Typo? Didn't even notice it.

I was surprised to hear the Zod was built with a 15" transom. How did you go about extending it for a longshaft motor?

No no. ALL Zodiacs were built to take shortshaft two strokes since they first came on the market in the (middle) nineties. In the early noughties() production switched to all longshaft to cope with the extra weight and higher waterline that occured from the introduction of fourstrokes. We didn't build ours up ourselves
