Steve. I fully understand that PCC are supportive as am I and most of the people of Portsmouth. However, what has been proposed and agreed in principle by the previous leaders needs to be looked at very closely and certain changes to be made to ensure that Portsmouth has long term benefits. I am confident that the New Leaders will come to an agreeable conclusion. I am not sure if you know that San Francisco financially blew their brains out by hosting the 2013 race and very little they were promised happened. The water front in NZ isn't doing that good either. My passion is with Portsmouth, its development and its people. Alan P

We have used the facility for several years and consider it to be unique.

As most decisions by the council are made on financial merits, hopefully
the council recognise that every user likely pays a £10 car park fee as well,
I for one would be happy to pay for a trailer park as well if this helped transform a council liability into an income.

Your support Steve is much appreciated.

Hi,
As of today you can get away with parking your trailer and car on the quay side (that's unofficial and I didn't say it). Just don't block any gates as you might get removed. If you are unsure ask one of my staff and they should be able to tell you if you're OK.

Long term I.e May next year, there should be pay and display parking evenings and week-ends, and a designated trailer park, but I lose control of my existing yard as of midnight tonight so what the council /BAR decide to do with the quayside and yard as of then I can't control.

Hopefully everything will sort itself out

BAR planning application is being decided today 2PM so a decision will be announced tomorrow.

Steve

Southampton are putting in an option to Sir Ben to take it to the old VT site, which is already cleared for development and has planning permission for boat building type operations.

Excellent news for the city. Pleased to see PCC have not bottled this decision like they have so many important ones in the past.

Many Thanks.

Good luck with that James! I would contact Steve from the drystack and ask him on the latest because the last time I was there a couple of weeks ago it was manic. Better to try somewhere like Haslar if you have a 4x4 to recover to.

Hi,

For the time being, the port are allowing slipway users to put their trailers at the top of the slipway. However, space is limited and will be taken on a first come first served basis. So early arrival is advised.

For the future, I have seen plans for the location of a trailer park close to where the old one was. So it seems PCC do plan to provide trailer parking

Thanks chaps.

Haslar have replied to my email and will let me use their slip but advise I need to launch 2hrs +\- high tide.

They will also let me park car/trailer for appox £4.

I've managed to convince a few more Ribnobbers to come out on Sat, so may just end up launching at Warsash like I usually do.

Goods news that Camber may get a trailer park in the future.

For future reference you can reliability launch 4hrs before ht and recover no later than 3hrs after. Be careful leaving it too near the 3hrs for recovery on springs as you never know who's using the slipway when you turn up.
