pity those photos are not still on there, or if they are I can't see them-pics of flare going up, french helo lifeboat, and a very sad looking rib. Bril pictures considering the circumstances in which they were taken. From memory-cuddy flooded halfway across to CIs. Carried on, tubes ripped off back to somewhere around cockpit, leaving holes thru the fora'rd hull/cabin where valves had been placed thru the grp. Hard nose put on afterwards. I am sure someone will correct me if the memory has failed me but it was quite a sobering thread at the time, so it doesn't matter what you are in, s*** can always happen eh.

as i recall, that was the french SAR attempt.

i'm a rather sad photo cleptomaniac.

actually when charles was an active forum member and the intaweb was a new invention and we all had dialup modems I helped charles create a website and happened to still have an offline copy.

From memory, and I may be wrong....

Because the valve for filling the tubes was on the inside this necessitated a hole between the cabin and the tube, i.e. a route for water to enter the cabin. Not sure if the tube parted company or the tube was torn but it exposed a weak point in the design which had already been corrected in later boats.
