I need to interupt here, the bellamy boat in question is another version of my 28 phantom (different deck) an early example 1983

With the greatest respect to mike, everything but the hull on that boat, especially the drive system is.......experimental!, and I for one would not be foolish enough to compare it to a twin engine 35 cigarette

PS. mike Bellamy's Phantom 28 was never a race boat, it was more of a test bed/advert for his engine/drive system?!!????/family cruiser (with a very small cabin, as the straight six motor+gearbox, put's the engine room bulkhead way forward, and it also has a long cockpit, not leaving much room for a cabin)

I'm confused!, your the one who compared bellamy's 28 to dirks cigarette! however bellamy's 28 phantom is far from "comparable" to most boats. It's drive system, as a single, is a strange choice!

Its an interesting vessel, but them Surface drives have been and gone as the manouverability down below at slow speed isnt all its cracked up to be.

Untill somebody can demonstrate a better drive system than the Outdrive leg for convienience/space and efficency, and suitability in a rib then outdrive is the way to go.

Before somebody starts on about shaft drives then its no good for beaching the boat and hasnt got the control of a leg.
