David Manning,

Point taken,... but surely you don't seriously compare a "classic wooden speedboat" or even a sport fisher with an offshore raceboat! Comparisons like that only mislead those who don't know any better

Incidentally I like classic wooden speedboats myself! I spent my youth playing around in all kinds toys like that whilst living on the Thames at shepperton, a great childhood! but they must never be compared to boats made for the salty stuff! ...do you take yours to the classic boat meet's? what is it? what motor does it have?

I wasn't aware, and I doubt that anyone else is either, that I was comparing my old wooden boat to an Offshore racer. As it is fitted with an extremely powerful 1960's evinrude 35hp I may have a little difficulty (only a little) in keeping up. You have a powerboat because it suits your preferred usage, I have a rib because it suits mine. Horses for Courses. So whats the problem?

No I didn't. She's sitting in front of me, washing my feet.

DM,
no problem david, calm down!
you didn't answer my question, do you take it to the meetings, I saw recently a article in a mag about the classic motor boat club, they have meetings all over the place, looks great, loads of old brooms and the like

Not calmed up, Jon, just clarifying my point. In answer to your question, no, I'm not in any clubs, not my sort of thing. I just like buying old tubs and making them look a bit more like it.

DM,

I know i'm in danger of going on about racing again and puting crazyhorse to sleep but there's a guy who got hold of a 60's sonny levi design plywood 17 footer with a old volvo 4cyl aquamatic in it that had been in a fire and abandoned for years, it was called "LEAN II" it was origonally built for the soon to be designer, Don Shead (hence the name lean II) he totaly restored it to a standard I cant describe, it simply looks brand new, he enters it in a few basic races, which seems a crime, but it is lovely to see
