buying boat with painted tubes

What does everyone think about buying a boat that has had the tubes painted with TUFFCOAT. I saw a boat that I was told had no leaks or patches but it had been painted for extra protection. I have been told it is a pain in the butt to patch the boat once it has been painted. Is it still possible to patch or will it destroy the integrity of the tube trying to take off the paint. Any one ever patch a boat that had been painted? any info would help. Thanks

i dont know about tuff coat but i have patched tubes painted with hypalon flexi paint and had no bother at all as long as the area to be patched is roughed back to the original fabric, only thing is a problem getting the new patch to match the paint for a decent look ,
