Yes Brad, I've X ray vision....Didn't you know!

You've had a nibble. So after ignoring a couple of members attempts at fishing and being rather unhelpful as opposed to helping someone.

Antifoul is a problem and will mask damage or a repair, but anyone that can tell what's underneath by just looking is a better man than anyone on RIBnet

If in doubt about your abilities to identify problems it might well be worthy of an indipendent marine survey.

Johnboy, if you are not aware the early Ribeyes didn't enjoy a good reputation for quality, however that was a decade ago. the reason it is antifouled is it is sat in Carrickfergus Marina which is shallow and warm so all sorts of nasty things would grow on it if you didn't. As I think Andy suggested it is a lot of money and the market is in dire straights due to the credit crunch so take your time and do consider a surveyor if you are not sure about inspecting a rib, or ask on here for someone local. Does it have a trailer and can you view out of the water too. Might have to run round to the old harbour becuase I don't think the marina has a slip other than the tiny one on to Belfast Lough. At the end of the day it is a leisure rib, so do you intend to go out into the teeth of a Force 7? if not carry on. There are a couple of Redbay 6.1s in your price range at Cushendun which you might want to consider and highly thought of by the forum members.

I'd second all the comments around paperwork - if its not there why not - why do people not think its important to show a boat has been looked after ?

I always look for general cracks in the gel on consoles / seats etc, even if its just surface of the gel you can either try & use it as a point to bargain the price down or tell if its been buggered up ! Again this can show if people have looked after it , or just hammered it & are trying to flog it on.

I tend to think ( but can be wrong ) if there are lots of little ' niggles' that are a five minute job to fix its not really been cared for, or has been abused. Again - opporunitty to bargain on price or if they are viewed or coudl turn into 'big niggles' walk away.

I would also never buy on the spot - go away & come back I find you can knock 10% off the price of anything this way ! OH & find out howling its been up for sale for & if the price has been reduced at all . If a long time , or it has been reduced make a stupidly low offer and work from that, ( it may even be accepted ! Current climate & all that & some poeple will be desperate to sell fro anything the can get soon.
