[QUOTE=wavecrosschris;182785] At full power it used 900 litres of petrol an hour and had capacity to hold 15,000 litres of petrol.

it could carry a lot of drugs, a lot of contraband and still go so fast it could outrun any maritime craft.

“Davison, George and Rush knew those buying the boats wanted them for one reason, to transport drugs and contraband from north Africa to southern Spain. They also knew that the money used to pay for the boats was coming from the proceeds of crime,” he said.

Hi Guys, this means that it could have taken some 15 tonnes of fuel let alone 6 tonnes of contraband.

It could carry drugs, but yet none were found and as for the boat coming from the proceeds of crime,

None of the above can be proven, it is all allegations.

I have never heard such a load of concocted bullshit.

What happened to innocent till proven guilty..

I just think that the whole idea of out running Radar as Silly. The only reason that the Radar could not pick it up is the metallic element of the boat can be kept very low versus its bulk so it would not appear very well as an object if at all in some seas.
It is also a very conspicuous boat that will stand out in any port including Miami beach.
I just think they should go to jail for the amount of fuel that they would burn.
I think that they were illegally importing Yamaha Vx250 engines....

Supposedly he was in deep to the Kramers who owned Apache power boats and Fort Apache marine in North Miami beach. Interesting because in the 80s Aronow was supplying U.S. customs with the "Blue Thunder" power boats to catch the drug smugglers. Yet Aronow's company U.S.A. racing was supposedly owned by Super Chief South a sub corporation of the Kramers, who were... are you ready for this? Drug smugglers... It's hard to say who killed Aronow, he was a friend of George Bush sr. (sold him a boat) and was awarded the government contract to build the customs boats. If word had gotten out that as vice president G.W. had awarded a contract for building boats to catch drug smugglers to the drug smugglers he probably would not have been elected President. Aronow may have been silenced by certain political organizations or the Kramers, we probably will never know for certain.
Incidentally the Blue thunder was a pig, It never was anywhere near as fast as the Apache or Cigarette boats at the time.

A link relating to the post above, makes interesting reading http://www.tarpley.net/bush20.htm
A great read: "Blue thunder" by Thomas Burdick.
A must read for any boater, an excellent investigative look at the darkside of the South Florida offshore powerboat scene in the 80s. Politics, drugs, murder, intrigue!

IMO, it had a very dumb storyline which went nowhere, but the abundance of ultra cool boats & planes and hotties more than made up for it. Definitely worth watching.
