British weather!!

So how come I'm sat at work today with the sun beating through the window and yesturday it was awfull

Cath and I tried camping at Redcliffe farm near Wareham on Saturday night ready for a day of Ribbing on the Sunday - and the weather for the weekend

Sat - OK but cloudy

Sun -
8am clear sky, bright sun
10am (Launch time) - clouded over
11am Out in Poole Harbour - started to drizzle
13pm Out Anvil Head - Sea mist, drizzle and sea spray - lovely

Don't get me wrong we had a good day out and Its good getting used to the different conditions when you are only a couple of miles from a safe haven, but with the wind, sea and rain in your face it was sometimes difficult to tell which way the yachts were heading - when - all of a sudden there was a Condor Ferry Catermaran fast ferry thing coming at full speed out of the mist straight at the same bunch of yachts I'd just come through

I was glad I wasn't on one of the yachts!!

So did anyone else make it out at the weekend? - and don't tell me the weater was good with you!!

I dunno, you buy a RIB and then winge about getting wet!

I was out on Saturday and went to Poole to watch the power boat racing, it was overcast and a liitle bit misty but I got sunburnt anyway.

And I have just been out this evening, and it is beautiful

Met a great bloke called Jim from BIBOA who had the most sussed RIB I have seen, wonderful boat

I've just come in from the garden on what must be one of the better evenings of the summer

(sure, not a great summer) so I'm seriously jealous of your evening RIB excursion!

BTW was that Jim in Still Deep One who you met? - the description "most sussed RIB" fits!

I WAS going to go up the East Coast on Saturday with Alan Winnet but I had a battery problem. Decide to go out on Sunday instead and to the Solent. In any case, the weather was predicted to be windy and rainy on Saturday and Sunday better, so maybe the battery thing was for the best. I went to Yarmouth. They were right about the wind & rain.... except it happened Sunday! I got the same drizzle as you Jools... though the boat handled quite well off the needles!

Yes we had gone to Poole because we had heard that the racing was on - Only problem was, with that mist you couldn't see a thing!!

We saw the boat trucks

in Poole harbour - (I dont think they use www.boatlaunch.co.uk ! Just an artic trailer and a big crane!!) and saw a couple being towed by a big rib, but out in the bay - not a chance! Where were they racing to/from

Secondly I had a look at the round Ireland web site - I didn't realise you were taking the Camel - I thought you were going to use the Scorpian - I bet you wish you had now!!

Anyway - well done for making the effort, and I am looking forward to you full report (and pics) too!!

Weather in Suffolk on Sat was absolutely gorgeous. Started off a bit grey but by lunchtime was bright blue skies. Sea was calm too.
Not calm enough though as I've shagged my back again badly and ended up going home by car rather than boat. Suspect thats me done for the season. (or ever.)

Still, 4 RIBS had a good time Sat. Glad that others are getting out despite the weather!

Yup that's the one, I try not to get envious or jealous but in the case of this boat I might make an exception.

I didn't really care which boat I took, I was just so peed off that i couldn't finish the first leg. My boats are named after favourite rock albums, (classy huh!) and the Camel's actual name is 'go the Distance' . Not exactly apt .

Next time I do it properly!

I was caught out on Saturday with the weather, it was forecast to be grey with showers or long spells of rain and it turned out to be Sunny and Warm all day!! Went cruising with Alan, Phil and company from Suffolk Yacht Harbour and had lunch at Southwold before returning to Suffolk. Only problem I had was my Sunburn!!

Alan, hope your back is better!!
