In fairness, it all depends on what the OP wants to do. If it's just pootling round Poole harbour on a sunny calm day, the Blig will be fine. BUT as invariably happens, RIB owners "evolve" into Ribnobbers & want to do more adventurous stuff, like crossing the channel to the IOW. In which case, I'd want to be in the RC thank you very much.
If the boats are similarly priced now, the RC will hold its money much better, & if the OP decides that he wants out/bigger/faster in a year or 2, he will lose more money on the Blig. It would be handy to know more about the respective boats.

In short, with those two on your shortlist, forget the Brigg. Seriously and that's coming from the Osprey camp.

I've grown up with boats and RIBS, now with my own young family, who have spent most our time estuary bimbling, the look of the leisure based boats like a Brig or a Bow-rider in hard-boats was at the time appealing to my wife.

As the kids have grown we were mighty glad that we bought a boat with a decent deep V that looked after us when we nosed out of the estuaries and started exploring coast as little more - we had an Orkney Vanguard at the time.

The point about re-sale and depreciation is very valid, and can be applied to RIBS and hard boats alike. Trust me on this one the wife/partner will be mighty glad you went for the reputable UK built brand when it sells easily and for good money, allowing you to go on to other boaty adventures.

Take the advice of the others and go and try lots of different things first. Your family and friends will notice the difference as they come home from that beach trip in a boat which 'looks after you'....

Good luck

Exactly. People search for used Ribcraft and they often look for a while.
I've never heard of anyone specifically looking for a used Br*g.

Brig 500 L 2014 0r Ribcraft 500 2010

Ribcraft every time and that's from the Humber camp.

Resale will be much higher with the RC if slightly more initially (?) and a clean 5m on the south coast will hardly need advertising.

I'd say it's more like comparing a blinged up Chinese made quad with a Honda big red. The former will have more "Essex" appeal with bells and whistles but they will likely break in time and the resale will be pennies. The Big Red will hold it's value and everything will still be working in 5 yrs even if you have ventured off road and taken it through ponds etc
