Braveheart team on there way to Majorca

The Braveheart rib that came 4th in RB8 are now on there way to Majorca by sea. They have another 1900 miles ahead of them. I guess the race wasnt long enough for them

i think they are fishermen or ex fishermen , probobly quite used to being at sea for long spells ..... they seem to be quite well known in the brock where they hail from ..........they did very well in RB 08 ....1000hp its a beast but not the prettiest rib in the world ...weird shapes all round ...liked the engine housing area ....good thing about it was it was easy to spot and tell what it was even without the binoculars....got some good video footage of them messing about in edinburgh

well done to you too for your RB efforts ....it was nice to meet you (edinburgh) huge effort for everyone involved

cheers

Ian

We saw it go through the lock at Port Solent today.

It sounds fantastic, but as mentioned the look of it would need to grow on you.

May thanks Ian

I believe they deserve more credit

More HP means more fuel which equates to more weight.

I had quite a long chat with "JJ" the youngest of the crew at the finish of RB08 in Portsmouth, here is an excerpt of my RB08 report for Sports Boat magazine which will be out in the first week in August - you'll have to buy it to read the rest!

Braveheart are certainly the dark horse in the race – more used to skippering a 60 metre trawler fishing for herring and mackerel around the coasts of the north and Irish seas, they can catch up to 1250 tonnes of fish before returning to port. Thier Scanner RIB is rigged with twin 525hp Mercruiser engines and race drives and they are definitely in with a chance of doing very well indeed, especially as they have as much sea time as anybody in the race and first had experience of much of the course.
