Bow cover / Dodger where can I buy one?

Can you buy a bow cover / dodger to deflect the wind over the console.

I am after one for a 4.5m rib with centre console.

I suppose a canva type of bow rider cover could be adapted.

Any ideas???????

Chris

Love to see what they do for you! And what it costs. Seen a few on you tube of Greek boats with them. One forum member directed me take Greek site but not practical really. Pls keep us/me posted if you get it done, interested myself for removable bough cover on a 6.3m

If you enter the rib covers page of the website there are two images of bow covers, the white one I think is on a Stingher with Chubby helming and the one above in blue is similar to the one I have asked for,(no windows in mine), but it will attach in the similar manner as boat cover. I have seen RIBs with similar covers being road driven on trailers at 70mph and they stay in place. I am getting this cover to enable me to have a small area of protection if it is needed whilst out I can attach it simply and also provides a dry area if moving kit bags for people. My consul is more forward than standard but will provide this covered position

Chris are we talking cheap and cheerful DIY or expensive pay a boat builder lots of dosh?

We fitted a bow cover to an Osprey Sparrowhawk for a trip round Scotland in 92. Worked well keeping the food box dry and deflected wind and green waves off the side. Did keep your legs warmer too.

Started with a cut down windsufer boom between the bow and the console held with a quick release pin. Then a sheet of black plastic material held to the tubes by glueing 1 inch velcro along the top of the black rubbing strake. The velco worked well and withstood green waves coming over the bow.

If you wanted something taller how about chopping a one man tent up. Nasher used some modern bendy tent poles for his boat cover that works well.

Photo not the best, but it was taken along time ago.

Pete

Have you got the web site for the greek supplier..........

Importing one is propably cheaper than having one made to fit........

greek picture

Yes, if you copy this, http://rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=29762 it is the thread with a link to the you tube picture of the boat, looks really smart. Another member then quotes the company in greece. It looks expensive, but for some worth it. The web site is in english too, but doesn't have much detail.
