Bournemouth/ Poole weather this weekend - safe?

Got a bit of a dilemma. I've arranged for my mate to come down and go out on the boat this weekend, but the weather now is looking increasingly worse towards this time. I'm based near Christchurch and intended to fish Southbourne in my 3m rib but would this be off in 17mph winds on Saturday? The problem is this is the only time we can do it as he's never really available and we arranged this about six months ago. I went out in 15mph winds last weekend and it was ok, I'm fine with not planing all the time!

I have never fished Poole Harbour before, but would this area be calm enough to fish given the shelter it provides? Where would be the best place to launch and fish? Any advice on species and marks welcome, as well as PMs.

I have a long shaft engine, would there be a risk of running aground, is it really shallow??

Really need some help here, I'm really grateful for anyone's advice.

My advice ( been using Christchurch lots over the years) ...BIN IT.

Its strong strong easterly winds - which will make it miserable . Its forecast heavy rain Sat - so crappy viz to compound strong winds...

Stay in / go to the PUB - but don't take a 3m out unless its a YBoat and you've got drysuits ......

You wont get the chance to worry about running aground - I reckon you'll be too worried about staying alive and getting home OK ....

Poole can be equally crappy in Easterlies - I don't fish so have no idea as to spots , but given the wind strength I'd plan weekend at home

Ok guys, looks like Saturdays off. Sun looks a bit better so I guess I'll have to see how the weather pans out closer to the time, but thanks for the advice anyway, much appreciated.
