reading these events i would suggest everybody thinks very carefully before letting them near there pride and joy
i wouldnt buy a bottle of 2 stroke from them .
if all ribsters steered well clear of them then how long would he be able to employ 8 people he wouldnt be able to crush a grape let alone you
it takes a lifetime to get a good reputation and a minute to lose it!!

Somebody lend me the cash to open a yard that gives good honest service at a reasonable price.

nasher have you tried bill at home marine in emsworth, not saying he is good but as a suzuki dealer, you have to wait months to get your engine serviced, and it is because he is so busy. i assume you use the pompey dealer?

Bill is OK from the dealings I've had with him, but he is let down by the lad that works for him.

I walked in with my prop nut and explained I needed a spare, and what it was off, he took it from me, rolled it around in his hand for about thirty seconds about 6 inches from his face, as if he'd never seen a prop nut before, did a builders impression with a loud intake of air through his teeth, and said 'Na, won't have one mate' and gave it back.
When pressed as to the possibility of ordering one, I was told it'd be about thirty quid and may take a week or so.

Knowing they are £13 new from Suzuki I turned around and walked out.
Don't like people taking the piss!

Found a used one at Bens outboards with the large washer for a fiver.

Wait a minute, they took your boat without your consent.

Er normally that's called theft isn't it, even if you return it intact or otherwise?

Shame. How about using the boat commercially under the wrong CoP? Might make them speed up sorting it out!

Surely their insurance wouldn't cover them for using a customer's rib for commercial purposes without their permission??

Well good luck and I hope you end up doing all the smilling at the end. They have totally taken the piss and gone way too far.

Screw them for loss of earnings. This time of year, its not funny.

No, but it is "taking with out consent" (TWOC), a charge thought up to bring against joyriders of cars who's defence was that they were going to return them...

Theft is only if the person permanantly deprives the other of it.

In this case that is not so.

TWOC is only for cars. Not too sure where boats fit in to this.

Maritime law is literally a law unto itself. If you want to pursue it get a lawyer experienced in maritime law. I should imagine thats expensive. Its then when you find out how good your insurance company is.

Best of luck.

After six weeeks and a shit load of paper work i have my rib back . i have had over £10,000 in compensation so far,all repair bills and haul out fees paid oh and lets not forget the new set of tubes coming at the end of the summer.

i have had to fight them all the way but not too bad for a person who was going to be squashed and a hell of a lot more then £650. I look forward to getting back on the water and enjoying my rib.

Please tell everyone that you know to stay away from RHP marine.
