Boating problem with Significant Other

This isn't really a RIB issue, but I figure this stalwart crew should be able to give me the ammo I need to convice my betrothed of something...

A friend of mine owns a classic tug, which he wants to sell as he is taking a new job working full-time on a working tug. I love his boat, and would love to buy it. But the Soon-to-be-Missus simply doesn't share my enthusiasm! Inspite of my arguments (head, comfy berths, great mileage etc.) she isn't conviced. It wouldn't replace our Hurricane of course...

Surely there must be something I can say! Any thoughts???

LOL... But I like her. And she loves boats and lets me dive by myself, and she's a great cook. Hell... She 'completes' me... (Why don't we have a "barf" smilie??)

Besides, this boat is big enough that I would need a crew... it's a long way from the beer fridge to the wheelhouse!

I agree it could use colour change. I believe the current owner's SO had something to do with the choice.

Pink eh? Not sure I want it that badly...

Yes there is:

I've bought a new boat.

Said as soon as you have the courage AFTER you own it!

As for painting it pink???

Ever seen a pink German Shepherd??

Kinda what I was getting at...

As for telling her after the fact, perhaps I should have mentioned she's half Sicillian and half Irish... I'm not that brave...

Well, you've provided a picture of the boat, fair enough, but to give truly informed advice, we also need to see a picture of the betrothed.

... and not in a hooded floatation suit this time

PT, I assume you hadn't read my last post about the Sicillian/Irish heritage when you posted this...

my mate told his missus he was going out to buy a new boat and she simply said ok I'll have a look at it when I come home later. When she saw the big powerboat on the driveway she went ballistic. Seems she thought he said "New Coat" Still all had a happy ending-he still has the boat and now a new girlie in his life and she likes boats!

But my problem is that she IS the new improved model and she DOES like boats. She just thinks this one is kinda big and smelly...

Are you sure she will notice the difference?!
My dad usually get two reciepts done on large purchases like cars and boats, one genuine and an edited version for mum

new rug-follicly challenged then?
Edited receipts- surely not as if anyone would do that to his nearest and dearest,.As someone on here has said elsewhere his major worry is that when he dies his wife will sell his toys for what he told her he paid them for

I'm thinking a nice crane on the back of that baby for the rib

Stoo, I like the way you think, unfortunately women don't think, they emote. What a great time you could have cruising the lakes with that baby! One word of caution from a two boat owner (recently three) is that having multiple boats tend to detract from your actual boating time but other than that I see no problem with it... Tell her she can redecorate and it will make a great retirement home, maybe that'll work!

By the way,

All purchases such as this should be done prior to getting engaged/married!

It's always easier to get forgiveness than permission...

I think your strategic plan had one step out of place.

Easy - get it renamed after her. I know it's unluck to rename a boat but if it's the only way of getting it.

The crane on the back looks perfect for recovering your RIB......

Well.....I'm a girlie and I'm with your other half i'm afraid. Not sure I'd be too chuffed if Roger came home with one of those........then again i'd probably just use it as an excuse to go on an equivalent shopping spree of my own

If she's got any sense she'll let you buy it so that when you go out to play on it she can take her mates out on your rib Reckon she'd have more fun than you - you'd have it boats & outboards before you knew it

Hanging baskets and pretty curtains etc - turn it into a pretty country cottage - a British style one of course!!!

Or you could try this - even a woman would think this is cute!!!
