Boat weight

Hi , can anyone tell me what a 5.2 ribs weight should be ,or a good weight for 5.2 rib with out the engine ,I know all boats are diferent ,but most 5.2 ribs weight should be the same ,ish any advice thanks.

Not 5.2m but a SR5.4 with a 90 2 stroke comes in under under 750kg.
You will get a bit of difference between builders, you'll probably find a British built RIB will weigh more than its Chinese counterpart....

Weight

Can anybody or more of you confirm the total weight as it really is. So verified.

Weight of complete rig, trailer included.

I am not that critical weither it meets 750kg in total or not.

Because of all, the 5.3mtr rib is my favourite at the moment.

However looking at different manufacturers, the lowest average and the highest average is more then 100kgs.
This can not be GRP only.

It isnt mentioned weither the console is included in the weight or not, that could make the difference.

So the verified weight of the complete set could be a much better thing to know.

From experience my last 3 boats, non Ribs, where about 30% heavier in empty condition.
One did 2500kg verified and 2000kg calculated.
Also trailer manufactures seem the claim low weight as beeing commercial.

All have LOA, Beam & Max HP, depending on the manufacturers' website there is a selection of CE rating, toob diameter / material, #chambers , internal length & beam, Max persons / Load, weight of hull (see comment below). Needless to say don't have all data for all craft, as it depends what is on each manufacturers' website.



Verstappen,

Unfortunately one thing I didn't do was note whether the weight was bare hull, hull with "standard" setup or max weight. It does strike me that bare hull vs hull with console etc is probably enough to give the +/- 100Kg.

I can be the GRP. remember the "G" in GRP is glass, which is not light. One extra layer could add a fair few Kg to a 5m boat, and that's before you throw resin at it.

I used the spreadheet to narrow my selection down, then went & looked in detail at three hulls instead of trying to juggle 30!

Plenty of threads here about towing weight and how surprisingly big a number people see on weighbridges!

The weight I was looking for was bare rib just tubes & hull, no engine or console, is 245kg a good weight for 5.2 rib, the seapro I have is only 165kg witch tell me the hull is very thin , is it more weight the thicker hull , or just more support inside the hull ,advice please

It's how the boat is manuafactured, the deep V hull, strength of transom, internal bulkheads, layers of fibreglass/resin, weight of hypalon, reinforcement rubbing strake, etc. Not all boats are same, irrespective of length.

Boat weights are very complicated. For instance, Jigsaw, a 6.5m Vipermax with an Opti 200 came in at over 1550kg. The official "dry" hull weight should be 480. Our 7m Vmax however has a supposed hull dry weight of 600kg. However even with our heavier console and slightly heavier 250 engine, we came in at only 1350kg. Both craft were fully fuelled I believe, with normal "ready to put to sea" kit o/b.

That's a large difference and more than just accessories I would have thought. I did plan on getting mine to a weighbridge last year, but didn't manage it. Will try again this coming season before launching. Bare hull weights are totally meaningless to my mind, and probably vary a bit from one hull to the next when hand built.

Quite. Although Jigsaw had an a frame and an auxiliary, surely its slightly lighter engine but mainly its 50cm shorter length would have left it lighter? Will be very interesting when you stick yours on the WB especially with your larger (heavier ) console. Of course the lead weight on your transom won't help, but I would be very surprised if a "standard" 6.5 would be heavier. Remind me what your engine weighs again!? :P
