Boat Weight

Hi,
i've just bought a 5.3m Humber Attaque now known as the (Ocean Pro 2m beam). I plan putting a Mercury 90hp 3 cylinder 2-stroke engine. I need to know the weight of it all in order to choose my trailer. I can't get it weighed because i'm in France and it's in England.

Does anybody have any ideas as to how much it would weigh ?

PS. The current trailer is too wide for my alley way so it has to be sold. I think its an Indespesion one for a much bigger rib and apparently in great condition. More info as soon as I get them.

Hi Pablo, nice boat!

I ended up getting the Capelli 5.7m with 100hp Yam, which together weigh 670kg.

Someone else may have more precise weights for your setup, but I can't imagine you'd be over my weight, so maybe around 600kg?

I have a Rocca 851 braked trailer for mine, rated to 1100kg. My Honda CRV is 2100kg total authorised weight (PTAC in French) so I just squeeze under the 3500kg maximum limit for trailer and car combined. (Above and you have to have an 'E' permit, extra test, etc. to tow a heavier load). Not sure what the UK rules are for max. towing weight with a normal licence.

Lots of variables in this, so a weighbridge would be your best option. You're probably looking at around 1000kg all up, including the weight of a decent trailer and a bit of fuel.

According to Humber, the modern equivalent weighs in at 295kg. The Engine should be around 120kg.

I was thinking of getting a PAM trailer (http://www.remorques-pam.com/moteurs.htm) for a total overall weight of 650kg and a usable (boat) weight of 500kg. Is this too light ?

I'm sorry, I don't know the English terminology for trailers.

A friend of mine has a Humber 5.3 I think it migh be the Attaque, it has quite a shallow V Hull and is very lightweight, he has a 90 Mariner 2stroke on the back and it goes very quick in deed only problem is the engine is probably too much for the boat, it chine walks like mad and you certainly can't trim it out unless you plan on taking a swim it does at least 40 knots in its current form. I reckon a 60 would be more than enough.
