Boat storage in or near lymington

We're looking to move the rib to lymington for use on the south coast this year starting at Easter

Anybody know of good and reasonable priced storage from March to October?

The plan is/was to launch from lymington harbour

As usual all your help and expert knowledge would be greatly appreciated

Calshot or Bucklers hard isn't that far from Lymington and very reasonably priced. I heard that there was a waiting list for the drystack at Lymington?

Hmm. "In or near Lymington" and "reasonably priced" are not phrases often heard together!

Are you dead set on Lymington? None of the Solent is cheap, but I'd say that Lymington is definitely at the pricier end of the market. You might find more reasonably priced offerings further east if that's an option?

There's a barn just outside Lymington that has a good number of ribs. Have a chat with Stewart at lymington marine sales and he can put you in touch.

Reasonably priced and Lymington rarely go together but believe rates are not crazy high.

Calshot also has a waiting list. And it's a public place which impacted my insurance. Great slip by very tidal

If your going to travel down regularly consider the amount of time getting to the boat and then launching etc, you might find it better to have it elsewhere on south coast maybe spend slightly longer getting there but being able to launch quickly. That slipway at lymington can be very busy in the summer as are many of the others. Have you considered somewhere like poole, at least two slipways plus places like Rockley boat park which si cheaper than main marinas, might be easier to get to considering main roads and not having to go through forest area to lymington.

We're based in leicester so to store near to the slip would save 50mph journeys. We used to keep the rib in a farmer's field off the Menai strait and launch form Ty Calch which worked great.

That's a fair trek to Lymington no matter if towing it not!

But I'd have thought the majority in motorway. Unless your trailer is ancient it should be rated to 60MPH on motorway..?

In which case is be looking at Southampton and saving a good half an hour or more off your journey time. I'd also go for dry berthing to minimise faff time. If you have to pick up your boat from storage, drive to the slipway, launch, park the trailer it's all going to use time that you could be on the water. It's not too bad if you're local, but added to a 3 hour drive is going to be a pain.

Southampton Drystack or Drivers Wharf would definitely be worth considering.

Got my storage sorted.



Caravan place a few miles away. Having launched at Lymington at the weekend it was lovely ( if a little breezy!!) but I guess a bit of a pig most Saturday's in high season.

Now looking at other launch sites.

Possibly crosshouse, priory or hythe?

Calshot spaces are up for renewal, they run from April to April, so may be a good time to check for space.
I store at Calshot and was there in the week, there wee empty spaces.
