Boat Cover Maker in Central Scotland?

Hi Folks,

Thinking of getting a new cover made for the Rib before the off the peg one disintegrates. Does anyone know of a good cover maker in Central Scotland? I saw one recently with a 'Sail Doctor' sticker on it which looked prettty good.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers.

A.

ps Took the boat over to Arran Yesterday, Jeez it was cold! must be getting soft in my old age

If you can get a hold of them (very busy) then covercraft industrial in port Glasgow have made numerous covers for me over the years, excellent quality and good prices. Getting them is the problem though but worth a try as local to you.

Last tango is getting a cover made just now I believe from someone up Falkirk way, waiting to see how good or bad it is as they are not a boat cover maker.

Just picked up my boat today with new tailor-made cover fitted.
"Custom Covers" Falkirk.....£300.... chuffed to bits with it.

Welcome to come and have a look at it if you want.

Had a quote from them a couple of years ago......floored me! twice what I ended up paying at Custom Covers ..

The one I've just had made is very heavy duty and fits perfectly...same size boat 6.5 mtr.

Forth Marine Textiles (based in Dunfermline). Never used them but heard favourable reports, but none about RIB covers.

Thanks sounds good. Did you have to take rib to them or is there an order template to fill in relevant measurements?

Yes, I had to leave it with them. Dropped it off after work on Thursday night and picked it up after work yesterday. (Don't think they work weekends but happy to arrange drop off and pick-up in the evenings.).

I think the fitting would be to complicated with a measurement template or you'd end up with a cover the was only a rough fit.

Thanks for the offer LT,

I'll see who responds to an enquiry first. The crowd at Port Glasgow seem a good first bet as they're close to where the boat is. Unusual to have more than one good option!

Be warned, it is IF they get back to you, not when. Such a shame as he is good, just can't cope with the workload at times. He tried to expand to cope but it didn't work out unfortunately. He has made 5-6 covers for me over the years on various boats.

Anyway, let us know how you fair.

Forth made my cover heavy duty in black for £500. They made a bow cushion which is pretty good. I had asked them to retrim my bench seat and it was a crap job ( not even that good) still need to find a retrimmer in central scotland
