boat builders ££??

I am seriously looking into getting a custom one off console built for a new rib due to the lack of shelter and style provided with most centre consoles.

Looking for a split console design similar to mpl sportrib sr9 euro, the old vulture ventures 8m.

one of the best looking consoles is http://www.freivokh.com/page/millenniumr

Basically i am trying to cost in and would appreciate any realistic ball part figures from people in the know!

I seem to recall the banana shark leisure boat had a protective console, similar to what you are after. May be worth PM'ing Cookee.

As a ball park figure to produce something similar to that pair of handed consoles on the link you would probably be looking, conservatively, at something along the following lines in terms of price:-

Pair of handed patterns/plugs £1.5 - 2500.00
Pair of handed split moulds £1 - 2000.00

Pair of finished handed mouldings £800 - 1500.00

How soon would you like to place an order?

I am a big fan of the wrap around console however, there does seem to be one major drawback in that the forward access gap in the Pascoe type one eats into the available dash board space for plotters and other electrical kit.

Come the glorious day, my mega rib (yeah right) will have an offset one piece console like Hydrolift use on their 24 footer (photo on the left). This allows forward access along one side of the boat & plenty of space for toys on the dash.

This, like the rest of the boat, will no doubt be made of unobtanium.

Regards.

Ian.

Unless you only boat in warm weather, don't do it. Fekkin freezin'.

I'd go with Brambles' offset one. I know the balance is a bit off but you can easily compensate for that.

I'd third Brambles and JW's comments. The split console makes your rib look like a bowrider, allows a bloody great draught to blow through the middle and isn't very effective use of space IMHO. I do like the offset console ala hydrolift or mebbe since you are considering tooling up something new, something along the lines of the redbay wraparound console but a bit sleeker.
