Bloody prop bags

After losing yet another , treated my self to a posh one 150 miles later where D gone!

Came up with this simple effective item

10. Mm fomex. Unbreakable

Large disc with smaller disc on rear to sit in side the exhaust outlet of prop. And securing bungee. Yet to be tidied up neatly

Ive got some nice expensive ones, how did yours come off in the first place. Id not want the same to happen to mine.

I always cut the corner off my prop bags to let the air out and the tie a knot in the other corner to take up any slack

i use a bag thats plenty big enough to go over the entire gearbox then trap it in the fins / cavitation plate using a cambuckle strap. never lost one yet. as for boat covers, i lost a few of those on my last boat before deciding never to tow with a cover on again

i cant be arsed looking for the regulations (regs piss me off too much as it is!) but i think you are right about the lighting board part. i see no point to them whatsoever other than to hide your nice expensive stainless prop from view

Yes it's red and identifies the object protruding more than the vessel,, Also covers up any sharp areas as it's the same dims as the prop, I used reflective decal on it,,,

Bag was fully fitted with draw strings it came with and tied securely I thought,,,,,, it had some eyelets in bottom to allow water drainage and wind to escape,,,


Sure it wad £40 an all not a cheapo Pissed me awf,,,

Bugger.........so if my light board and boat extend further than the props I dont need a bag. Oh well, Ive two nice expensive bags that just hide my props from view.

Well if your trailer and boat all look right your unlikely to be stopped. The regs are pretty complicated so Id rather not have to discover any more answers

My propellers extend past the lighting board so I need the prop bags. I pull the drawstrings tight, then tie them off on the trim or tilt fixings. Then I slap on a bungee cord or tie a webbing strap to ensure they don't flap about. I've used fluorescent safety vests in the past, basically anything that other road users can see.
