When I asked about plastic owls on another BBS, I was told by someone who had tried them, that he hadn't had a problem with plastic gulls since he put a plastic owl on his boat.

Are you right on the coast or up a creek

OSWALD THE SEAGULL SCARER
Mailspeed catalogue page 118-- £19-99p
Big enough to scare the crap out of the bigest seagull
www.mailspeedmarine.com
On the other hand reflective party balloon--£3-50 seems to have done the trick

Grumpy, I am guessing the Owl on the boat in Cowes was on a dark red daring on the moorings. It didn't really work, we tried cd's tied to string, tried eveything.

Best I have heard is black binliners tied by two corners so they flap a lot but it disintegrates, perhaps try black hypalon! Also plenty of string to get in the way.

September onwards is always a killer in Cowes, watch the folks with their brushes on weekend mornings - sod farming it in the Galapagos, just move to Cowes and scrape the crap off the decks of the day boats.

Maybe it is down to the colour of the boat etc - i have noticed with my cars that birds only do their stuff on SHINY cars when they have just been washed!!!

For some really strange reason the place they usually go is right by the door mirrors - maybe they like to watch themselves in action - or else the refelction scares the crap out of them!!!

Here is a photo of a RIB that will take some cleaning - hope it's not down to colour - my boat near enough the same!!!
