Chewy , please do tell...

Have you ever been a member of BIBOA ?

Have you ever skippered a boat on a BIBOA cruise ?

Have you ever attended a BIBOA cruise in any capacity at all ?

If the answer to any of the above is yes , then I'm sure you might be able to add something useful to the thread . ( You haven't yet ! )

If the answer to all three is no , please let us know how come your such an expert ?

Thanks

Bern

I'll quite happily say no to all of the above.
What does BIBOA offer me that RIB.net doesn't?

I'm all for folk getting out on their ribs by whatever means , organised cruising or just doing their own thing . Personally I don't feel I need other folk to organise cruises in my own back yard for me ( I'd probably go along though just to get out......)

I happen to love BIBOA's Scottish cruises , so I'm towing up from Essex for the third time . If you just want to cruise the N.E , why not organise a " RIBnet " gathering ?

If BIBOA are organising a cruise somewhere that you do fancy , go along and join them . I'm sure you will get a warm welcome and you'll enjoy it .

Just don't be so negative about something you haven't tried !

Without sounding negative what does BIBOA offer that RIB.net doesn't?

I've been on a couple of run outs with members from here who launch at Whitby. A few of us are looking at getting together during the summer with either a run from Whitby to Hartlepool or Whitby to Scarbrough.

Sorry if I caused any ill feeling, I did look at joining BIBOA but felt this site offered more or less the same.

thanks Bern
ive been a member since yr1 and have been organising at least 1 or 2 cruises a year since 1993 in my previous 6m ribs and we have ribbers like Bern who travel great distances including switzerland germany and greece and locals. most of the ribs were in the 5 / 6m range but the trend is to larger ribs in the 7/ 8m range (driven by manufacturers and the age of owners (ie me) looking for more comfort) but all cruises are at approx 25kn and meant for enjoyment and there is no requirement to be a BIBOA member but if you are organising a BIBOA recognised event you will be covered by their third party insurance

Well Doug what is your plans for this year? As a matter of interest how many local ribsters join you on your cruises?

I have contacted the Biboa in past, inviting them to our powerboat cruises and asking them , if they would be interested working with our club. Who have just set up a powerboat section.

No reply - so I took that the british part ment South England, with a holiday for members to West of Scotland once a year! Hence I did not join.

I might been wrong...

SPR Hi I did the very same thing it was a group I could join, but unlike you the chair did contact me. But like you it was not something for the 'north' end people, granted there is a cruise or if we are lucky two every year. That is why I asked the question to Doug how many locals attend!!
Cheers S
