Ribs under 5k....Poly, Chris

Poly/Chris,

Yep, I would agree and remain v. mindful of that but no real fears there,
unless my the eventual surveyor is an utter scam artist then I'm totally screwed -some might say they are just that but could be hearsay?

(In my book, most rational fear to be placed with engines...and those jagged, hardy things that sometimes grow in water....rocks, that's right)

Catch up with all y'awl later

posted in your 'welcome' thread - was a Ribcraft 6.5 for sale in Derry, basic layout with a 150horse 2 stroke Johnson..... if still for sale, its possibly a very motivated seller

Rib -Derry

working arse about face here with these replies, scuse any overlapping messages...still getting used to the forum set-up.

JumpingJack, yer on the ball....I'll see what he says about a trial in due course, doubtful on a significant price drop but you'd never know.

Adios, go foill

+1 our initial thoughts of what we might get for our money turned out to be hopelessly wide of the mark once we got used to what's a scam and what's not. For example: anything on Boats and Outboards with 1 pic and no region is a scam.

Henry,

That's an interesting item...RIB is a cracker and looks to be in excellent nick. Engine size? Would tend to think 115+ HP more suited to that craft, again depending on load?

You are right on the money, Sir....shame she's over the water.

Mr Chowder,

Well, I always expect more from the sellers market than it can bear!

Been working the web for quite a while now and you certainly pick up few dead-giveaways in adverts like the one you mentioned...plenty others cited on the forums here too which is great...multiple selling of same item (+ multiple personalities of sellers), continual postponement of viewing times/dates, certain payment types, poor phrasing/grammarerererr and location. I'd personally run a mile from anyone selling trailered/stilted craft in a landlocked area but can run pretty fast for my size! HenryFreston's sent a good example of a vessel that would tickle my scantlings...dunno about that particular engine HP for it...I wonder what kind of safe load can you comfortably push on your Humber 5m with the 85 before she lets you know?

Well... My 5.4m Searider starts to feel sluggish with 3 large adults aboard.

I reckon that Tornado is a 5.8m and I'd want an absolute minimum of 115hp on it.

Reckon so, 140HP feels fine when weighted fairly on a 6.1m hull...
No idea for 5.85m. Future trials necessary

*140 on an oldish Redbay 6.1m with 'slightly' more than might be considered an ideal load at the time that is...can't say she handled well on turns at speed either. Allegedly, no expert mind.
