Best Insurance Provider?

I am after everyone’s advice! Who is the cheapest company to insure a rib through? Having spoken to a few different insurance companies at the boat show it seems they don’t all insure ribs, some of them seeming almost embarrassed that I was asking them!!

How much do you think insurance should be on a 6.4m Ribcraft with a Suzuki 175hp outboard to be used for pleasure only.

All help and advice I am very grateful for and a big thank you to everyone who uses ribnet its one of the best sites I have ever used!

Regards Chris

Chris,

Your thread title says 'best' and your post says 'cheapest' - not always the same!

There's lots of previous threads on this - just do a quick search for 'insurance' and countless recommendations will be revealed.

best insurance!

To give you an idea of why it is necessary to search and cross check insurance companies. I have used one for 2 years and paid 430 ish for a 6.5 with 150 outboard on commercial use. I have just been quoted for a 7.85 with 250 outboard a range of 460- 1150 with prices in between, Check for normal excesses, road trailer use, new for old etc

They are all good till you make a claim.
Just make sure you read or better still ask them to clarify
the little things
Like having your weather profs stolen from under the seats
most companys inculding mine will not cover any thing unless
there is forceable entry.
How many Ribs have lockable seat pods or bow lockers ?
Also the 12 mile rule.
Are you covered if you leave your RIB at another Marina over night (on holiday) with out telling them first.
Its a mine field, and one that even the best get wrong

Beware of the small print on the craftinsure policy, I've mentioned it many times! - http://rib.net/forum/showthread.php?...ine#post205637
