Bespoke Covers

I know this has been talked about before but that was some time ago and wondered if anyone had any updates.

Basically I got a cover from Barnet with the boat but really it's more suited as a trailer cover rather than a mooring cover (i.e. it's a b*tch to get right and taut enough that it stays where it's supposed to in a slight breeze).

The bloke in the opposite mooring to me has a very smart one in what looks like a lightweight springy waterproof material with a side access zip, so that you can step onto your boat to do bits without having to take the whole bl**dy thing off. The rest seems like it's on thin bungy cord and works a bit like a fitted sheet. Looks top and seems to work!

The only problem is that we only have two suppliers and they tend to be bl**dy expensive e.g. I used to have a Rinker 230 and had a camper cover made that cost me £2,200!!! (Oh and it was sh*t and the poppers kept falling off and that was pure cover only!!!!!)

So Ideally I need a UK or Jersey (Charles) supplier that doesn't necessarily need the boat there to measure and I can give them reasonable measurements and photo's over the phone.

Anybody got any ideas?????

And before someone starts I'm crap at DIY, so that's straight out of the window!

Ian, give Paul Battrick a call at South Pier Marine - 01534711002 - maybe he can advise as they have taken over a sailmaking/cover company over here.

Pettal, I have one of these for the P22 and was very impressed for the price. Material is heavy duty and they are "baggy" enough to fit a variety of different shaped boats. Not sure if they do one big enough for you though.

Cheers Brian/Charles

I'll give both of them a shout and see what happens price wise!

Hi Pete,

Thanks for that, it seems that this might just do the job and works the same as my fitted sheet thing. I just manage to creep into their top size, so hopefully it'll work a treat.

Ta

Ian
