Bench seat in back SR5.4

Does anyone have a bench seat up against their transom? I'm in the market for an SR. 5.4m Avon and am hoping to install a bench seat in the back over the fuel cell. I realize most people would prefer to only have the jockey seat as this is probably the most stable seating arrangement but I will be using the RIB for spearfishing and would like to be able to carry 3 divers plus gear.

Bingosucks (if I remembered that right) does... it was supplied by Whisper (Alex at Custom Rib)

Yes thank you. I'm also more wondering if others have setups like this. Curious how it would affect the ride. I'm not looking for a racer but don't want it to ride horribly (too stern heavy).

You would lose some space back there since the seat couldn't be all the way against the transom since you need space to be able to the tilt the engine up.

Yea I've seen one that had an adjustable back rest that would tilt forward. I'm just not sure how these boats ride with say 2 adults in the back and one in the jockey seat. Probably fine, just a little slower getting up on plane.

Another question I have with these boats is I have seen a ribtec with seating side by side. Is it possible to do this with a sea rider 5.4 ? I want to be able to seat at least 4 preferably 6

I've seen 2 x 2 jockey seats in an Avon 5.4m on here somewhere but can't find the picture now. I believe it had blue tubes.

6 might be a stretch...

Bench seat in back SR5.4

We used to have a bench behind the offset console with two on. Then we had two stood up holding the backrest and then two (one on each side) sat on the tubes in front of the console on our 5.4. That said we had a 90opti on it so it had the beans to get it up and going before waves came over the bow.

Other times when rougher we had two on the bench and then 4 behind, 2 on each tube.

Great that's reassuring to know. I was beginning to think 6 was going to be difficult!

Used to have 6 lads, in their 20s. Fine unless at displacement speed in a chop as waves slosh over! Fine if it's summer and you're in wet suits.

Clearly deck space is reduced and you wouldn't really want 6 fishing or pulling up a skier. 4 is more than comfortable though. You just need enough HP!

I think that's the thing. Everything is a compromise. For me it's likely 4 adults and two kids 11 & 13. I'm not sure any other rib under 6m will be any different in my price range.

6 round a bay will be fine, or sheltered waters, but you wouldn't want to venture far really unless flat calm.

The RC 585 would be much better or a 5.8m Humber Destroyer. They both have a high sheer bow that'll lessen the splash over the front and a higher freeboard at the transom, lessening waves over the rear at rest.

They're also wide enough for side by side jockeys.

The seariders are known for always having a wet deck! Fine if playing about with kids and toys, annoying if in transit or fishing.

£££ determines most things though.

Your right there, I've already increased my budget. I've seen a nice ribtec 5.5m and humber attaque 5.5 for sale on e bay and on here. Both just out my price range. You don't get much for £5.5k.
The 585 and destroyer are out of budget ! Most of the time it will be 2 adults and 2 kids, however I want to be able to take others with us on that odd trip.

This would be nice if re-upholstered

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182239983496

This would be nice with a couple of jockeys or bench put in.
