It all sounds like one big marketing ploy to me, if not it has certainly got allot of people talking!

Barnet are excellent. Good knowledge, good products and the customer service is top knotch, I just hope they sort out DJLs tube problems as they really should.

Hi,
It's good to hear that Barnet Marine's service is excellent, I will certainly consider them in the future. The problem is that I have found most companies very helpfull when you are buying but less helpfull afterwards, is Barnet Marines after sales service just as good?
Regards,
Graham

I personally can't comment at the moment but will add to the thread once I know in a few months time.

Swginn would probably be able to give a better answer as would others with Tornado's and XS-Ribs that have been owned for some time now.

From what I've heard which made me form an opinion to contact them in the first place their aftersales is just as good. But until I experience it I'll sit on this nice comfy fence over here!

After Sales really is top class.

I had a problem with my steering helm vent cap being faulty and as a result there was air in the system. Barnet didn't want me to lose out on any days ribbing so they sent over the vent cap by courier and paid my local seastar dealer to bleed the steering using their "power purge" system. Also after I noticed that Barnet are now fitting a tapered trunking over their loom exit to prevent water ingress to the console, I contacted Laurence and he sent me that over FOC also.

Other than this I haven't had any problems with the RIB (it still is relatively new) Friend has had his Tornado for 3yrs now and also has had minor problems such as plastic steering cap coming off wheel centreand a faulty switch, Barnet have always responded promptly and simply sent the parts over bearing delivery costs, etc. themselves. I guess its the small thngs that count!!

You will always get a return of e-mail within 1-2hrs and there will always be somebody there to give you some good sound advice. Have never heard anything bad about them other than DJL's tubes.

Laurence has been in contact and offered to fix the tubes . They have the RIB at the moment and are also replacing the engine mounts, which they have done a fantastic deal on - was going to cost me £650!!

Their after sales support really is top class and I’d definitely buy through them again. I think I just need to get everything reinforced on my next boat...

Daniel, you just need a bigger boat next time, I think you have given the one you have one hell of a thrashing over the past few years .... its a small boat with big experience.

I am pleased Laurence has sorted you out, I thought he may, i am sure he does not want any of his products or company tarnished with a bad reputation, he has worked for years to build it up.

I have a Tornado and will pick an XS up next week for our dive club ... we have had the odd problem, but I can't really fault the Tornado or the service from Barnet.

Getting back on my soap box, its a shame other manufacturers look down on buyers so much. "Revenger" and the Southamption Boat Show ... for example, they treated us very poorly ... and thats the second time they have done that to me. As a result the next boat will not be a Revenger!

No...she only came with a one year warranty, however Laurence has made several repairs after it expired. In fact, the engine was out of warranty by a few days and they are doing a deal on the engine mounts - I only have to pay labour, saving me £100's

Andy, it’s interesting to hear about your experience with Revenger. One of the main reasons I bought a Tornado was that Laurence was one of only two people who took myself and my mum seriously when we asked about buying a RIB. A wasn't as clued up then either so flogging me a RIB would have been easy. It was the same when we went to buy a car Its pretty sad when you end up having to decide what to buy by who talks to you.

Might as well plug the other person: Rod at Marine Power Centre in Chertsey - when I enquired about Yam RIB's, after asking what I wanted he told me point blank not to buy one and did himself out of a possible sale. Have done lots of business with him since.

Could XS ribs be built by flecher ????? I read when it went tits up it was bought by some clever business man...... and ribs are getting more popular by the day ?????

They could also be building them in the back garden of Laurence's gaff

Thats why we have one - Ribtec (which we went to the show with the intention of buying from) were not interested in doing a deal, put together a minimal spec on the back of a bit of scrap paper, and generally did not make us feel welcome. Just down the road however, Laurence showed us photos of all the options, arranged a test drive and put together a good deal package. Result - a sale for Tornado!

Can I add that Laurence was immensely fair and helpful when I was doing my researches and that Solent won over Barnet because of their relative proximity, and the faster hull and colours!

I saw your boat at barnet today waiting for its engine.... (at least I'm assuming the package for a 7m orange boat with a 200 opti was for you!). I guess it won't take them long to fit it out!

Ricky,

Have you picked up the clubs new Rib yet. Is this it, in the background of this pic?

http://www.rib.net/forum/attachment....achmentid=9132

Post a few pics when you get the chance. I'm interested to see how she goes with the 115 opti as its much lighter than the 150.

Ricky

Yup that'll be the one, there's a few pics on the gallery at the moment and will add more once I get a few more from LL @ Barnet.

LL told me tonight it will be ready for Friday am which is good as the weather appears to be ok for the weekend which will be handy!

They've done a superb job so far and as I've said before can't praise them enough.

Can't wait now.........3 days is just too long!!!

Yep we picked it up yesterday, we will start the running in process this weekend. Some pics to follow soon.

SWGINN after your excellent "out of water RIB" photo, Ricky and myself have set ourself a challange to do better!!! I know a hard act to follow your pic was very cool, however a bit of competition is juts what we need to make us try harder!!
