Barnet Marine

Just a moan & description of my experience with this company, took a day off work to go to Barnet Marine with a list of stuff to buy, roughly £300 worth, rang before setting off to check the showroom was open and it was ok to buy from the shop and not just on ebay as it's a fairly long trip for me.
Arrived and tried to buy items but got such bad and unhelpful service we gave up in the end and left empty handed. Obviously they don't need any new customers as they're doing too well anyway.
If and when I upgrade to a mega ££££ rib or buy anything else, I will not be using this company ever, not even on ebay!

Who did you speak to?
I've dealt with Laurence and he's been fine although I think some of the staff aren't quite as clued up as himself.

I have had a similar experience unfortunately so you are not in isolation.

Who you are dealing with appears to makes limited difference in my experience.

Lawrence went out of his way to honour a deal on my new Opti 175 earlier this year - even though he had sold the one he had in stock. Found him and the help at Barnett Marine when collecting excellent.
... only my personal experience

Went up to collect today - superb service, although Laurence was running around trying to sort out a lorry load, he broke off to make sure I was helped quickly and there were no problems.

Hadn't bought from them before today, definately will again now as very helpful people.

Credit where credit's due.

An interesting tale, I have found them on the whole very helpful particuarly when I originally bought my boat from them, the rigging was excellent and they certainly took care to communicate with me at every stage, so it was right!

However, when the seat base rotted in 3 years because it was made in ordinary ply, they really could be bothered except to quote me a silly price for a Tornado replacement.

Actually when I approached Tornado they replaced it quite rightly free of charge as their supplier had cocked up and not used marine ply. I guess like every company they perhaps have good days and bad.

Recently I did drop in to have a general chat and they seemed very friendly and certainly had time to chat, with no prospect of an immediate sale.
