Looks a proper job.
Yeah it's beginning to feel like less of a grind now. Even spending 2 hours cleaning and polishing the seat hinges didn't seem so bad.

No, 2 hours polishing 6 of them to get the rust staining of them from the old rusty seat cover staples.

They're a tenner a time, it's cheaper to sort them out than buy new.

The OCD was hard enough to get rid of after doing the seat pods and the console!

I'm beginning to lose my sense of humour with the clown that originally fitted this out.

This is why you don't solder battery cables together. The cable was had less than half its strands intact and was brown inside.

It's a bloody miracle the boat didn't go up in flames. That was in the underdeck area, next to the fuel line.

Opti's don't respond well to dodgy battery cables either Nos.

I can send you some red insulating tape? It'll sort that in jig time!

New cable time...

Question. Do I need tinned battery cables or not?

I wouldn't worry. Take a while to get that bad. How long is the run Nos?

The old stuff was 50mm. 35mm will fit up the conduit a bit easier!

Nos for a 6.5 meter run I would use 40mm, 35 might not be able to deliver enough current when the Opti is starting. I had this problem with an e-tec 115.

I can confirm that.

I did point it out earlier in the thread but it's a long time ago now.

JBT have been very helpful indeed-thanks guys- and had absolutely nothing to do with the original fitout.

If they'd fitted her out originally I doubt I'd have had much to do now bar build an N2k network and update stuff.

Mercury actually recommend 33mm for that size run, so I should be ok with 35mm. (besides, it was starting ok with half the 50mm najjered as per the pic. There were 3 joins like that)

I'm getting short of space in the under deck trunking too

It's significantly cheaper than Safety-Marine to get the tinned cable from Vehicle Wiring Products by the way.
