Heard alot about this , but good to see the badness of it . LIke you said still a concern especially when you consider that it was supposedly set up like this from new. All will be worth it when you open the opti up

The scary thing is, the guy I bought it from was a ribnet member (though he didnt post much) and he'd been using it with no killcord and only half a litre of steering fluid with his wife and kids aboard.

Just to clarify,AFAIK it wasn't set up by JBT and none of the bodges were their doing.
They've been VERY helpful-in fact Elliot at JBT deserves a medal for the amount of questions he's answered/info he's provided.

I'll do a full 'thanks to' post at the end of this as there's been an awful lot of very helpful companies so far.

Anyhow, agenda for tomorrow is to clean the deck and everything inside so I can start rewiring/reinstalling stuff. I've been working in absolute crap for the last couple of weeks sealing/filling all the holes. It'd be a dumb thing to do to wash the decks with open screw holes in it.

I thought it was on here. I was quite interested in it until I did some digging, seem to remember something about the gearbox suffering damage and being smashed up ?

No, no damage to the gearbox or skeg at all. There was damage to the steering ram but that's sorted now.

No idea-the seller said it did 78 knots which is obvious bull. It should be fairly quick though.

Depending how it's propped, late 40's.
