Avon / Zodiac /Z Marine - insolvency?

What's the latest anyone know? Be two great brands consigned to the history books?

Over the past couple of weeks I've spoken to four Zodiac dealers about new boat supplies.

Their answers were broadly similar... that at this very moment there is a new owner of Zodiac, production and/or supply of boats has been suspended and they are awaiting news of what the new owner's plans are to take the company forward. They are all expecting a reductionm in the size of the range with the possibility that overlapping models or niche models might be dropped.

My enquiry was relating to SIBs but I'd expect the general idea would cover their RIBs as well.

Hard to see the ubiquitous brand name of 'Zodiac' disappearing. Too valuable by half, they are huge and for most people they are the Hoover, Sellotape, Biro etc of the inflatable world.

You'd really hope the name and core products will pull through these troubles... or where will the potential new Aerotec fans get their boats for the next generation?

It's weird to hear what is happening across the pond...

The North America branch of Zodiac is still making and shipping boats.

I've heard stuff on the dealers grapevine during Aug but only just noticed this official statement from 3wks ago tucked away on the Zodiac website...

Zodiac have NEW OWNERS.

Production is planned to start up again in the middle of September 2015.

Zodiac will continue with their current range and prices will remain the same throughout 2015.

For 2016 there will be some new models brought into the range and plans are set to show the range at all major boat shows around the world.

Sorry for those of you who could not purchase any Zodiac product this year.

2016 will be different.
