Been to Bembridge on Friday to look at the Ring and Avon A620 Both seem to be great Ribs but I think the Avon has the edge as you can squeeze in the twin Jockeys so 2 more seats and seems like Ring are more in to racing boats than the Avon alrounder
But hope this is the right decision just need some help on the engine size Bembridge favour Mercury and say that a 90 f/s is plenty but not sure if I should go to the Mercury 115 f/s. They are building a 620 as a demo with a 90 on which will be reaady in a few week so will have to go back to try.
By the way Bembridge Outboards are a great dealer very helpull with lots of advise for such a novice.

Jahno You may be able to help here being that you do have an avon.

Hi

90 is a big no no

we have a 90hp merc 4 stroke on a 560 - that is spot on.

You need at least a 130 hp for a family cruising fun boat.
GraemeCooper has a 130 hp honda on a 620 which is a nice cruising boat, i have a 150hp optimax on the 620 now which is as economical as the 90hp and produce plenty of power when you need it.

The 620 handles a lot better with the wheight at the back, but the 560 is better with the wheight up front.

The suzuki 140 would be my ideal choice for family cruising, or possibly the 135 optimax.

Please call if you want any further help, I am personally not a massive fan of bembridge - try some avon dealers for there advice on engines.

Hi Rockey

1/ Bembridge are Avon Dealers i know, is just there are better avon dealers out there.
2/I may be wrong but i was under the impression that Ring hard boats and ring rib hulls are made in the same factory?
3/I am selling my 620 and if avon made a 9m boat i would buy one.

How many Avon 620's have you been in/owned? Whats your background/experience with ribs? My only experience with Rings is the one i have outlined.

I'm only saying the way i see it not that i'm correct or not. I'm am obviously byest because I like Avons.

Do all the rib manufacturers use their own jockey seats and consoles or are there a couple of major seat makers
Or does it not matter to much as long as you get the layout you want

consoles etc

Avon use www.Outhill.com but jim @ bembridge makes has is own, ed @ olmec makes some nice consoles and seats- www.olmectubing.co.uk, i am not a big humber fan, but they make a fabtastic jockey seat.

butt genrally doesn't matter as long as you get the seat and console you like.
