Avon 620 Deluxe with Yamaha 115 4-stroke

I've just been given details of an Avon 620 with 115 Yamaha 4 stroke. 2007 with very low hours. It has all the electrics (VHF Garim etc.)

I'm quite keen given the price but would welcome any thoughts on Avon as a rib manufacture...I've heard they along with ribcraft are quite solid builds but would welcome any thoughts!

Thanks in advance.

Simon

(It is for family use...cove hopping, water skiing etc.)

The 620 is a very good boat and ideal for family use. If it is a good price, then the combination looks promising, assuming it has a trailer too.

There are plenty of write ups about the 620, have a look at Ribmagazine for starters or just do a google search

Good luck

I guess the only thing I'm worried about is whether the 115 4-stroke is slightly underpowered..although the dealer assures me that is the right balanced engine for the Avon 620 and they sell a lot of these packages as family boats.

Another one for sale on Ribnet with a different layout. BHG should be able to arrange a test drive on the water for you.

I would go for a bit more power if possible. Our Merc 135 is a great engine and goes like stink.

I can't comment on the Avon 620 specifically but I have that same Yamaha outboard on a 6.3m RIB and the performance is very good. Lovely engine.

IMHO I think it will be more than adequate for family boating.
