Auxillary engine

Just wondering how many of you folk have an aux engine as backup and if so would you post pics???
I've a 5 hp Honda 4stroke and not sure if need bracket or not ?? Also clearance on main 90 yam looks tight

If possible mount on the transom. Adjustable brackets rattle like a Vauxhall Viva on on a frosty morning! Seriously, if space on the transom is tight, then use a fixed bracket, and make sure to ratchet the motor to when underway. The tilt bolt on most auxiliaries won't put up with the vibration and constant pounding. My Mariner 4hp sits snug as a bug next to my Twatsoo 60hp main oil burner.

Good picture. I had been thinking about this too. I am putting a single on my 7m zodiac but was torn at not being able to go with twins. I wasn't sure if I could fit something smaller next to it.

I'd have thought you'd be able to squeeze in the auxilliary engine. If you have an A-frame, then it's a little more complicated. The Honda won't be as neat as say a 2-stroke but let's see what space is available.

Reason I got the 5hp was so I didn't have to mix fuel as the 90 yam is auto mix and meant if ever needed I can use the main fuel tanks with it being 4stroke

If you put the Yam on Hard Lock does it touch the Honda?

If you have the Yam down in the central position, either tilted or not tilted can you turn the honda "lock to lock" (not sure if the honda actually has a lock!) If not - can you lock the honda centrally and use the big engine as a rudder?

What auxilliary engine is on there just now?

I know where there's a tidy long-shaft Yammie 4hp if you wanted something slimmer than the Honda. Easy enough to refuel, but you would need to carry oil on board.

That's the honda 5hp, kind of want to keep the 5hp as will push boat nicely if needs be, it is tight but think there should be room just thinking may need bracket to get it out water , no drag etc ?

As engines are normally offset you might find it less tight one side than the other.

Looks like plenty room to me for the auxilliary. Turn the main engine hard lock to hard lock to ensure it doesn't touch the auxiliary. Reckon you should be able to move the Honda slightly more towards the sponson so it's clear. If the Honda is long shaft, and it looks like it is, then it should be fine.

My auxilliary engine is long shaft and it clears the water when underway. You can add a ratchet strap from the transom knee or floor (use a stainless steel U bolt as an anchor point) to the auxilliary powerhead to ensure it doesn't bounce about.

OK but point is, if your main is offset, put aux in side with most clearance

Do you think once in water and aux fully tilted that it would require a bracket to raise it up more so would not drag
