attaching holding down eyes to deck

I have a Valiant rib the deck is not formed over a ply wood sheeting. It is a fibreglass deck. If I use self tappers to attach the holding down eyes I think that they will be ripped out leaving a good hole in the deck.

I want the holding down eyes to secure fuel tanks to the deck for the aroundireland event next year.

The only solution I have arrived at is the use of mini "footstraps" which are glued to the deck

your thoughts please

TSM

Stainless Toggle bolts perhaps? You could drill the deck, insert the stainless toggle and fasten it with a stainless eye bolt. There are eyebolts with large flanges - this could be sikka'ed to the deck to make a seal and increase the strength.

I glued several of these to both tubes and hull, using Polymarine's two part glue. Easily hold a 20 litre fuel container. No signs of them coming unstuck as yet. Lifeline rope patch D ring - Henshaw Inflatables Ltd

Cheers.

TSM. Mine are hypalon because my tubes are. As they make them I guess they could supply other fabrics as well. It was an experiment to glue them onto the fibreglass - with the hypalon glue. It certainly stuck them well.
