Hi hrcap, Having some experience with cabin ribs your post got my attention.

Probond Marine in Buckie are now building Carson RIBs with cabins from 7.5m and above that have also been fitted with diesels (and outboards). Carsons were the first purpose designed cabin ribs from the early nineties with 9m then later 7.5m (also had a stepped hull). More info can be found on Probond's website www.probondmarine.co.uk and also if you have a look at https://papayarcticadventure.blogspot.co.uk/ you will see Quickstep with a cabin, wheelhouse and inboard engine currently in the Arctic having voyaged from the Orkneys. You can also find more information about these ribs on this site if you search 'Carson'.

All Carson cabin ribs have proper little cabins, not just cuddy shelters, and can have berths, room for a loo, stove and even standing headroom.

I'd be happy to help with any queries.

I know someone who almost bought the ribtec guyc linked to and I'm pretty sure he negotiated quite a bit off the asking price
Looks like it has volvo kad 32's fitted which are simple and reasonably reliable
If it's anywhere near your budget I'd say it's well worth a look

Here's a little project I did last year. Redbay 7.4 which I refitted and installed a 2 berth cuddy cabin console from Ocean RIBs on. Works really well as a weekend boat - I'm just over 6ft tall and can sleep quite comfortably in there with my girlfriend. Also works really well as a day boat as theres load of dry space to throw all your kit in, and you can pop a portable camping loo in there. In answer to the original question, the cabin/console is fibreglassed to the deck.

Hi Beamisken

I went up to see the ribtec last summer. I don't suppose you know why your friend didn't go through with the purchase do you?

Cheers
