Atlantic 21 - how much power?

I really like the look and layout of this one on Fleabay, but twin 60's seem a bit scant. Is it even a worthwhile prospect?

They had twin 50's when they first went on service IIRC then 60's....someone like Martin (mchappelow on here) is a mine of knowledge re all things Lifeboat and could give you the proper /actual specs, but with twin 60's should do 30 knotts...

If it was mine I'd stick twin 90's on it or a single 150.

Former boss of mine had an ex RNLI one with twin 55 2 cylinder Evinrudes. Did 33 knots.

At 6.5m it should be in the 175-200 region for a single.

I know this will really date me, but when I served on a 21 it had twin 50s. It did us pretty well at the time, but the move to 60s certainly improved it. 30kn may be a bit optimistic for an old boat, but 25+ should still be well within scope.

In your part of the world, twins gives good reassurance, and I agree with Chewy - 90s would work well when the time came to change

Untill recently, our boat had twin 50 2stroke mariners on it, and I clocked it at 29 knots max.

When I bought mine it had 2 x 50 evinrudes on her. She could do 28knts. So I swopped them for 2x 75hp Yamaha Pro and now she clocks 36.5knts. A great boat. Go for it!!!

Kinda on topic- Does anyone with experience on atlantic 21s or atlantic 75s know how the performance is running on one motor? Will the boat plane? and how fast would it go?

With twin 75's my boat will happily get on the plane with one engine (atlantic 21)
