well said!!

If a light liesure user, fairish weather user ie not out at all times and generally head when it isnt a blooming storm. A decent waterproof sailing jacket with a nice high collar and framed hood will stand you well for years. I paid £140 fir a musto cruising jacket. The full on offshore ones ate £££ and i dont think you need them unless you are sailing or out in horrible weather for hours on end regularly. Then a cheaper pair of waterproof trousers for when weather is v bad. I then got some second hand ski goggles from flea bay and shoved them in console for when you get caught out. Crew can bury their heads but skippers need to see!!

Thanks for the recommendations guys, really appreciate it

If I cant get a pair of the MPX trousers cheap what other warm waterproof trousers would you recommend?

Also the MPX Offshore jackets, how do you find the high collar? Could see that it might irritate when bouncing up and down?

I would suggest some nice Musto jackets, along with some decent thermal stuff underneath.

If you do fancy a Dry Suit, the Crewsaver ones are fairly decent. Been one of the best buys of mine over the last few years.

I actually find Decathlon brilliant for nice warm, practical clothes at prices far better than your average boating place

For MPX trousers try the musto outlet shops, i'm sure the trousers are about £97 and The MPX race jackets are around £130

Here's IanM's thread that explains a bit more:

So we also went to the Musto outlet store on sunday, where things really were less than 1/2 price... the MPX gortex womens jacket and salopettes coming in at a bargain 200 squid .. down side is the Mrs now wants to come boating with me ! ;-) (I've had a slap for that !)

I've also purchased the MPX jacket and HPX salopettes so we really had a good spend up and now look like "harold and hilda"! but massivley reduced from the RRP price that was initially quoted

I've also got the Sealskinz Hat, Gloves and Socks (which I wore up Helvellyn), and all are very very good .. (and warm). My mate works in a retailers and he said they are excellent, but not very robust wrt rope burns etc ...

What do people wear on there feet ? ... wellies ?, or goretex boots or something else ?

the Sox are very very good .. I wore my fave boots up Helvelyn last year in the snow, and on the way back they go very "holey", and still finished with warm and dry feet, so well worth the expense ... !!!

Yes thats a nice walk up. 1st time we did it we went up striding edge in thick fog so we had to go back the week after just for the view, we have been up there many times since love the place

Helvellyn is my favourite of them all i must go back there soon
