I'm in the middle of doing the same. I'm also using unwaxed gel coat. I've used a brush and foam roller, slopped it on thick 1st two layers, then added styrene for 3rd and wax and styrene 4th layer.

It's not fun at all, sanding started far more course for me. I made it to 400 grit yesterday. I'd love to see nugents results with ecs spray gel or find someone to pay to do it. I've got a big console and a splash well I am doing.

Thought I'd update this. I have re gelled my transom outside. I did it with a green foam roller (chemical resistant). At first it seemed like a mistake. But in a whole day I have sanded it in p120, p200, p400, p600, p1000, p1500 and it looks amazing. And I know if it gets scratched I can fill and fix it myself. Getting the buffer out tommorw

I always forget to take pictures, once the gloves are on and the sticky stuff is open.

Only pictures I have are of her bum in 400 grit. The outboard well rear seat has all been done, what you can see here too. Couple of places, I sanded through, and have since touched up. Once cured ill sand less in those areas

The most annoying part of it, was my masking tape fell off of stainless hardware after 2nd gel coat. it picks off of metal ok though
