Still looking for my first RIB. Have seen this on ebay, not keen to buy but am really curious to know what it might be ?

RIB DIVE WORK BOAT 60 MARINER PTT REPUTED EX SBS 16FT. BY 7FT. | eBay

I'm finding myself drawn to the look of RIBs with a 'square nose', not sure if there is a proper term ? Can anyone recommend what would be a decent boat in the 4 to 5.5m range that would be a reasonable buy, UK winter capable rather than a more Mediterranean style,budget up to £4500 ?

whatever is, does not worth even £1000! Repaired, dirty, it does not need TLC, it needs kiss of life!!!!

Personally speaking, the only worthy part of this package is the trailer, the engine is old, and the rib is so difficult to do any refurbishment on it.

Looks a bit like an emergency/recovery boat stored on deck and swung out from a small ferry or commercial vessel ?

Looks like a good usable tough working boat to me.

The engine isn't that old, and looks in reasonable nick, and the trailer can be rebuilt.

It could be made into a tidy boat on a reaonable budget with a bit a bit of elbow grease I'd say.
I also like the look of it, far better than a white boat wth Blue piped seats.

Never having had £1000s to spend on boats it's the sort of project I'd take on at the sort of money it's up for at the moment.

I was guessing the engine was about that age.

Writing off 12yr old engines as too old is a bit much in my humble opinion.

If you are looking for your 1st 'Rib' then this isnt it as it's not a Rib!
They also state the trailer isn't roadworthy, so you need to have a clear action plan on how you can move it. I would have thought you might find a better deal, especially at this time of year.....

I appreciate that it isn't a RIB, wouldn't fancy trying to inflate large plastic blocks

Not interested in buying it but am looking around and trying to absorb as much on the general RIB subject as I can before spending my money. I'm having a bit of a bike clearout at the moment so the longer I look the easier the budget becomes

As I said in my original post, I like the look of boat which have a flat profile rather than pointed tubes at the bow, can any one recommend which boats made this way would be good as a year round proposition for UK waters.

Agree with the Watercraft guesses.

We've got one of these sitting in the quayside at work. Doesn't seme to have been used or moved for years.

Has a Yamaha 50hp 4 stroke on it. Just had a look and the builders plate inside the transom says "Watercraft International, Gosport".

I assumed the outer "tubes" would be solid plastic, but they're actually slightly squashy, bolted onto the fibreglass main hull.

If you want any photos or more info from the builder's plate, let me know.

Actually looks quite an interesting, robust boat. I heard second hand that the boat here is ex-MOD, probably from Portland, but don't know whether it was ship or land based.
