Loads of stuff out of Whitby, it depends on what kind of depths you're looking for. It drops off pretty quick into 40m+

i suppose a range of depths most of us have been diving for a few years now so 40m+ (ish) wrecks would be good.
have you done much off there ?

This is a good start

Whitby Wreck GPS Positions

Whitby Wrecks - iPhone & iPad App - home page

...and Ron Young's 'The Ultimate Shipwreck Guide - Whitby to Berwick' is excellent

,

I don't know about reefs but there are some good wrecks out of Whitby. As said Ron Young's books are good. I use wrecksite.eu with a £26 ish annual subscription you get all the admiralty charts/marks.

Whitby has really good marina/launching facilities and you can launch +/- 4 hours or so at the marina slip. We quite often do a weekend diving there and you can leave you RIB on the marina pontoon overnight.

Diving at Whitby can be a little disappointing at times. You really need a good week or more of low wind to maintain the visibility. And you also need a week or so of no heavy rain as the rive can turn the sea off Whitby, a dark chocolate colour.
We did a weekend diving there about 2 weeks ago and had 10 metre viz, which I think is good for Whitby.

And try Arbutt's for a proper fishermans breakfast.

thank you very much.... the amount of knowledge on this site!!!
i live in Redcar and have been diving off this coast for about 16 years, Whitby sounds the same as Redcar.
i have a static van near Seahouses to, up there is so different due to the depth and cleaner water.

and Gary, Arbutts is on the list!

thanks again phil
