Another Project for the winter!

I've had my eye on this for 4 years, blatently uncared for and used as a rubbish skip - now shes mine!!

I dont really know the history, cleared 2 massive bins worth of crap, bottles, mud, woodlice! wood, wiring, coke cans, etc

throttle levers are missing and cables have been snipped so Im guess some one has swiped that along with the steering wheel and top cover of the console!?!

The hull is very sound, no serial number but looks better nick than mine other one!! - and its holds air I checked this before bidding, will have more pics on saturday when it gets the hosepipe

The engine turns over by hand and gears engage and all turns freely, 2 plugs are gone by it makes the right noises

Nice one Olly!

Not surprised Nos wants that A-frame, looks proper industrial like

If the hull's better than your other one, do you reckon you might end up using this as your own boat? If you manage to get the engine running well are you tempted to replace the Yamaha with it?

Can't believe you've got two 5.4's!! Wish I had enough room for one

Winter Project

Looks like a little work - pity plugs are missing. Looks like it might make quite a tasty toy if you set to. Good luck. Keep the pictures coming.

Looks like it's made for the job, also looks like someone's attempted it already by tying a fender to it, got a feeling it might take a little more than that

Not bad, huge great big roller coaster job, (braked) with handbrake - needs new tyres not sure about rest, I'm thinking of just using it as a launching trolley in the compound and not road use

yeah the frames hardcore! the photos dont even show the top of it, theres a speaker thing, aerial, spot lights etc -

I dont know what to do yet - I love my yamaha 60 and its such a good engine so I wouldnt swap for an evinrude no - even if its a 70hp as I just dont know its history - decision decisions!!

Might as well use your old 4m trailer for that? At least that way if you fix the rollercoaster you'll be able to use it to tow long distance and it'll make the boat more saleable.

I was more concerned for the state of the bores or did you remove the plugs Have you tried turning the motor over yet?

a fair point ian, yes - not sure how to get it turning over without keys and wiring tho -whats the best start point, can of wd40 in all the bores, new plugs? any other advice on getting an engine back to life after 4years being laid up? it all turns freely and engages by hand

Tread carefully, if the rubber water pump breaks up little bits end up in the water galleries. Bores and seals would also be a concern. Is it premix? carbs bunged up with old fuel..... however with a bit of care it should go.

Well done Olly, I know you've been looking at this one for a while.
Should be a good project - Good luck.

By the way, if it was me, I'd stick with your Yam 60, and ebay the rude for some build funds without spending too much time on it.

With all the Hulls etc you now have your 5.4 is going to be the 'Triggers broom' of ribnet

'fraid I ain't too clued up on outboard motors, now if it had two wheels, an engine and was of '80s vintage that would be a different matter As Pete7 points out, outboards do have their own peculiarities.
