Another itch to scratch

To all Round Ireland Teams,

· Our 2013 Suzuki Sponsored Round Ireland Powerboat & RIB Challenge proved to be a huge success this summer. Due to the wealth of material resulting from this event, we have decided to commit to publishing a special 76 page colour supplement that will be ‘belly-bound’ and released with issue 117, the London Boat Show edition of PBR. Only a few teams have sent in their experiences of the event, but the supplement will contain a page dedicated to each individual team, so we really need your 500 words!! Mo will be chasing you!....we were hoping to run this supplement with this next issue but we have bounced it to 117 in order to allow more time to collate the material from the teams.
· In terms of next year’s PBR event, we know many of you have been keen to know our plans! We are working on arrangements at this time to deliver a fabulous high profile 2014 powerboat challenge which promises to be just as enjoyable and exciting as this year’s Round Ireland 10-day event. Furthermore, the latest news is, that following the positivity of the Round Ireland event this year and the number of requests for an annual event, we have decided to launch a rotating series of three annual, offshore, ‘everyman’ styled PBR events. This ‘Challenge Series’ shall comprise:

Round Britain Powerboat & RIB Challenge 2014
Round Scotland Powerboat & RIB Challenge 2015
Round Ireland Powerboat & RIB Challenge 2016

The plan is to run these events on similar dates to this year and we hope very much that many of you will be able to join us again on these exciting new adventures!

Not sure I will find the time for a Round Britain next year but the thought only is extremely seducing ..

I absolutely want to do it... as long as its the same approx period of time...
first two weeks of August ... its quiet at work and I could do it.
My back has already requested one of those lovely Scott Suspension seats and I have been listening to my back a lot recently

The boat I am collecting in 3 weeks has also well tested suspension seats ..

Oooooh... I do like a good itch to scratch!

I'll be a certain age in not that many years time, and had been figuring on having a midlife crisis around then. So I had thought if there was a repeat RI I might see if I could muster the courage to have a go. I have no RIB, no RIB cruising experience. Just like the idea, plus I loved the West Coast of Ireland when I dinghy sailed there a couple of times.

Then I thought they maybe wouldn't repeat it and thought doing something up the West Coast of Scotland might work... Glasgow -> Crinnan -->?Oban --> Round Skye??? Down the West, Round Cambletown and back into Glasgow.

Couple of things strike me:
1. Early August - weather wasn't great this time? Has anyone reviewed the trends?
2. Early August - for some is harder to get leave as thats when everyone wants to be on holiday
3. Early August makes accomodation, ferries etc more expensive.
First two weeks of September are usually good weather?

I've got 4 years left to get my itch scratched...

Are there entry forms already ? How do you confirm your entry ? Did you have to request forms ?

So sooner I can tie everything up the better.

Did you not miss the start line???!!!

Only joking, I know it does take a lot of planning! Would love to think about it but reckon we'll find it hard to justify the cost two yrs in a row! Might say hello in IOM tho and maybe run a leg or something.

I think that there is great potential for a group of ribbers with say, three or four boats to do a RI with a support team - basically a 4x4 and a trailer. More fun, cheaper, less fuss...
