What difference do the sponson sizes make to a rib eg my rib is 6.5 m with 22" tubes and I think the standard tubes are 16", is it for safety or dryer ride.

The standard tube size on a Redbay 6.5m is 18 in - your RIB was specified with 22 in sponsons by the original owner to increase the lateral stability and give more width when getting his disabled son on and off the boat.

For the same reason your rear port seat pod is also removable to allow for a wheelchair to be located there

Tubes on Ronin's R.C 7.8 are .530m in Diamiter (actuley same as the 6.8
